Windshield wipers are kind of a luxury and some helicopters are expected to fly in weather that would necessitate them more than others. That is difficult to answer, but in my own personal opinion from use on two vehicles, I would say the Bosch Icon wipers – they are a little expensive, but they last and work so much better than most. It is a “beam” wiper – beam wipers don’t have a metal frame and are “floppy”, but they tend to apply pressure evenly. The Bosch Icon wipers don’t flop around at highway speeds, they can move snow just fine, and last a long time.

The second situation where they are stopping in use is the more dangerous and diagnosis requires one more question. Are they stopping in intermittent mode only and work OK on low or high speed setting? If they are stopping randomly on any setting, you likely have a problem in the motor itself. I cleaned the disc, regreased it with dielectric grease (available in small packets at auto parts store), reassembled everything and it worked fine! Getting the motor out may be difficult due to location. I had to get a local shop to pull the wiper arms off with their special tool in order to gain access. That cost $20 (helps to be friendly with a shop). The rest of the job was easy.
