Saadeh’s ideas sounded nice on paper (for Syrians and Syrians only) but to implement those ideas would be impossible. So no I don’t think Saadeh really cared about Syria nor Syrians to the extent that would’ve made him see the flaws of his ideas, he even went to Al Zaim, the man who was behind the Syrian army’s failure in the 1948 Arab-Israeli war and the man who toppled the democratically elected government of Shukri Al Quwatli. Saadeh was about to shake hands with the man I talked about just so he can implement his ideas.
I would take her hand in mine and look directly at her face while saying “I love you because you are a beautiful, funny intelligent (basically anything you love about her except weird stuff)” stuff like that and make her feel like the most special an dunique girl in the world. So about your question, did Saadeh’s ideas sound nice for Syrians so yeah sure but it would’ve been hell for the others and eventually Syrians down the line too. You see, the Lebanese, Iraqis, Jordanians, Palestinians and Cyprus didn’t fight Ottoman, British, Greek and French rule and get their independence from them just to have Syria become their masters and erase their own identity and I don’t think they would’ve just said “okay we’ll just become Syrians then”. The civil wars, sectarianism, corruption, nepotism of a state based on Saadeh’s ideas would leave the people in nothing more than poverty and misery.
