A lap quilt requires 20 10″ X 10″ squares. A great deal depends on the size of each square. I am currently constructing a queen size quilt that has 40 squares (each 12″ X 14″). There will be a border added on to give it a finished look. Finished, there will be a “drop” of about 6″ on each side. Size of the squares is determined by finding the LARGEST design and using that size as the template for all the other pieces, so you have even sizes. Sometimes it can be a challenge to get them all even, but it can be very much worth the work!
